Battle ends in Draw - Under 16 Hurling

27/09/2013 15:23

In what was a tight affair throughout Shamrocks Under 16 hurlers were unlucky not to emerge with victory as a last minute stoppage time goal earned Tullamore a replay in a fiercely contested affair. Played in dry conditions in Mucklagh GAA pitch this was a ding dong derby battle with no quarter asked or given by either side.

There was plenty of moments of controversy in this game as Tullamore argued that a goal mouth scramble in the 52nd minute had crossed the line. Referee Kieran Dooley consulted both umpires before throwing the ball in on the twenty one yard line with Shamrocks then traveklling up the field where a long dropping ball ended up in the Tullamore net. As injury time was being played Shamrocks found themselves in the Tullamore half and must surely have sensed victory but Tullamore surged down the field in the dying moments to land a sucker punch and leaving Shamrocks wondering why they were not celebrating yet another underage County Final appearance in what is proving to be a very successful year for underage teams in the Parish.

The time date and venue for the replay have yet to be decided and with the promise of another tight affair supporters must surely fancy another evenings entertainment from both sides. Details for teh replay will appear on the website when available. On the "Rocks"
